The core technologies of the Enceladus Organic Organizer (EOA) have been extensively developed and tested at UC Berkeley over the past fifteen years.
The first organic instrument was the prototype portable Mars Organic Analyzer (MOA) included in the Urey Instrument in Phase A advanced development for the ExoMars rover. This technology also underwent advanced engineering design at the Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory (SSL) for the MOA proposal for Mars 2020.
